The Best Restaurants We Ate At In Chicago – January 2018 Edition

Here’s a roundup of the Best Restaurants We Ate At In Chicago – January 2018 Edition

We are very fortunate to do what we do. Trying lots of Chicagoland’s new and most delicious restaurants is such a blessing, so we thought we would give you guys a rundown of the places we visited, so you can plan your next outing! We were hosted by most of these restaurants – meaning that the bill was taken care of by the establishments. We always tip our servers well, we hope you do the same.

Slyce Coal Fired Pizza

At the beginning of last month we were treated to an absolutely delicious dinner at Slyce Coal Fired Pizzas in Highwood. This is the 2nd location for this bustling artisanal coal fired pizza joint. Don’t just order pizza though! Known for their meatballs, salad and delicious desserts like these gorgeous cannolis. A great spot for groups, or a date night. You can also watch all the action in their open kitchen.

Cafe Robey

Cafe Robey is part of the The Robey Hotel located in Wicker Park. This place opened last year and we were so delighted to get the chance to try it for my birthday dinner. The lighting is dark, and the decor is elegant. Service is spot on, the menu changes frequently and is seasonal, so know you might not find exactly what we ordered. We left uncomfortably full and happy. Could not recommend this place enough. Click here to see pictures of everything we ate.

Wrigley BBQ

We finally made it to Wrigley BBQ after being recommended by so many of our foodie friends. They were not joking when they raved about the food! Owner Mitch Liebovich is a great guy who sure knows BBQ. He creates some really awesome specials and sweets that match playoff games too. Just know you will not be disappointed by whatever you order! We will be heading back there this weekend for brunch, that is only on Sundays until 2 pm. This restaurant is BYOB by the way! Here’s our Wrigley BBQ gallery.

Mozu Sushi & Izakaya

Mozu Sushi & Izakaya is a contemporary sushi and izakaya restaurant tucked away in a strip mall in Glenview and we think it has to be one of Glenview’s best kept secrets! Here you will find some incredible signature maki rolls, nigiri and sashimi, and delicious warm dishes like the Nagasaki noodle. Mozu has some great lunch specials, plenty of Instagrammable dishes and serves alcohol, too! Here are all of our photos.

R.J. Grunts

R.J. Grunts is the first Lettuce Entertain You Restaurant and is now a local icon. It’s charming with it’s 70’s decor. These guys are known for their American comfort food and their insane salad bar. We actually came in to add their delicious burger to our “Best Burgers in Chicago” List we are working on, and we fell in love with the salad bar too! R.J. Grunts Gallery

pHlour

This Edgewater bakery and cafe is very pro gluten – they even have a sign that lets you know of that fact! They are very deliberate about creating homemade, high quality products. Stop by for homemade breads, sandwiches, coffee and pastries. We tried some croissants and did not regret it! pHlour Gallery

Bounce Sporting Club

The River North eatery is giving Chicago a new definition of bar food and sports bars. Serving elevated bar food such as hot cheeto crusted wings and captain crunch crusted chicken nuggets, their menu is nothing short of eclectic. There’s plenty of room for groups, they even have an event space so everyone can check out their fun food and atmosphere. They plan to open a rooftop in the summer as well, so keep them on your radar! Check out our Bounce Gallery here.

Texas De Brazil

Texas De Brazil is one of our go-to spots if we are looking to get the meat sweats! Really though, these guys know how to serve high quality cuts of meat, great drinks and have an excellent salad bar as well. We save all of our room for the flank steak, picanha and a caipirinha to wash it all down. These guys serve brunch on Fridays only until 2 pm. The concept is still the same, all you can eat meats and salad bar, for half the price of dinner. You’re welcome! Check out all of the delicious things you can enjoy there here.

Nick’s Pizza & Pub

This Chicago location is newly opened but the owner, Nick, has been at this for awhile. Not only does Nick know how to create a family friendly, fun atmosphere, but he invests heavily in his staff, setting them up to be future CEOs. Nick has developed a model that helps people communicate more effectively and take ownership of their work. He promotes people whenever they have taken the necessary steps to warrant a raise (which is often) and believes in transparency from the top down. His employee turnover rate is extremely low. He even teaches other business owners his strategies on how to create a psychologically friendly work environment. Here’s Nick giving a Ted Talk!  The food at Nick’s is awesome too. Here we fell in love with his double decker pizza and his buffalo wing recipe is one of the best in town! Check out more photos here.

The Dearborn Tavern

The Dearborn Tavern is busting right in the heart of the Chicago Loop. This urban American tavern serves some delicious and upscale American food, like their amazing burger, which right now is near the top of our “Best Burgers in Chicago List.” Don’t miss their cocktails or starters like their heirloom carrot salad either. Here’s the gallery for more photos.

Parlor Pizza Bar

Parlor Pizza is a longtime favorite, with two locations in town, now everyone can get their fix! It’s not just pizza that’s awesome here – try their salads, chicken sandwiches or their fun Dessert Dealer Bar with the super Instagrammable Taco Latos! Check out everything we ate here.

Stan’s Donuts

It feels like all the time a new Stan’s Donuts is opening up around town, and for good reason, people go crazy over their donuts! It’s no doubt that they are delicious. They just released a new item – a croissant, donut hybrid or “cronut” that they named ‘Le Stan’. We have to say – it truly was as good as it looks, if not even better!

Urban Belly

Urban Belly has been one of our go-to spots for the last couple of years. Chef Bill Kim is known for inventing insanely delicious American Asian Comfort food on the fly. The menu changes frequently, but trust us when we say you can’t go wrong here. One of our favorite (and permanent) menu items is the Coconut Pho. You have to try it! Every first of the month they have a $1 a piece dumplings special. There’s another 1-day special coming very soon – so stay locked on our Insta feed for the details! Check out more pics here.
